ALUMINUM
POWDER BUSHINGS
MADE BY ANDREW STARK
Review by GROG
Andy sent me two of his aluminum powder
bushings for review and testing. The bushings center the main powder charge
over the primer, and aid in adding power to the lift charge by restricting the
area the charge has to burn in. They are machined from bar stock aluminum and
are built to last! They are made to be used in the flat bottomed black powder
37mm casings only. They will not work properly in the concave bottomed casings.
In order to use them, they must be epoxied into place. I recommend using a
q-tip with a long wooden handle, to place the epoxy around the bottom and
bottom sides of the casing. Do not use too much epoxy, as when pushed into
position, the epoxy might clog the primer hole. The bushings will hold a charge
of 1 tsp (approx 50grains) of BP which is plenty for most 37mm applications.
They fit into the casings like a glove, and once epoxied into position, will
not come out! Aluminum casings so equipped should last forever! They measure
1.407" OD and ID: 0.69" and are 0.747" thick.
